172 years later, our 2008 meeting will be
held at the ALAMO in San Antonio TX.
Meeting headquarters, accommodations, and all meals will be in the San Antonio Motel 6 (it’s the economy folks, we were originally booked into the San Antonio Ritz Carlton).

We can’t figure out

A party is planned –
or so we’ve been told.
But the age numbers … er … high
and You’re not that old!

Never seeming to age,
Just playing blissfully.
Still a punster, a jokester,
A funster, a clown,
Always a big smile –
Never a frown.
The way you live life
With humor and heart,
Just a kid playing jokes
Not just any old fart!
And, since age is all mental,
(You can choose, we’ve been told)
You can act how you feel
So You’ll never be old!
Yeah, well, maybe old-er,
But, hey, what’s the fuss?
Cause you’ll never seem 80 –
More like 0-8 to us.
We wish we could party
With you on your day.
But, our family’s coming
So at home we must stay.

To the Chairman
Having traveled near and far,
Only hoping to be where you are.
Navigating by car, ship and train,
Over smooth and rough terrain.
Realizing it was my duty to be,
In the place my chairman chose for me.
No celebration could be complete,
Guiding me only to my chairman’s feet.
Now I sit on a train going at a snails pace,
On the day of your birthday, what a race!
Riding across the country to honor you,
My body is tired there’s a hole in my shoe.
Although I’ll never be there on time,
Norman, my best wishes to you fills my mind.

The full agenda for our meeting will be completed by August 10th, but in the meantime you can be planning to attend. All transportation, and lodging accomodations will be provided by your corporation; however, there will be a $19.95 charge for spouses and significant others.

Website Launched!

In an unprecedented event at this year’s annual meeting, the board voted 14-13 to reach a wider audience. Accepting grants from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Homer and Martha Gudelsky Foundation, the August 27th Corporation now has a presence on the World Wide Web. Unfortunately, due to budget limitations and cost considerations, a color website could not be procured. Black and white will have to do for now.

August 1, 2005 – In an attempt to promote unification throughout the world (and once again hope to be in the running for the Nobel Peace Prize), your Chairman announces the “August 27 for all Nations” project. Details to come shortly.
